Problem 68
Q

Suppose circuit B in Fig. 21–42a consists of a resistance R=520  ΩR = 520 \; \Omega. The filter capacitor has capacitance C=1.2  μFC = 1.2 \; \mu \textrm{F}. Will this capacitor act to eliminate 60-Hz ac but pass a high-frequency signal of frequency 6.0 kHz? To check this, determine the voltage drop across R for a 130-mV signal of frequency

  1. 60 Hz;
  2. 6.0 kHz.
(a) Common use for a capacitor as a filter.

A
  1. 30 mV30 \textrm{ mV}
  2. 130 mV130 \textrm{ mV}
This is a high pass filter since high frequency signals pass through it.
