Problem 63
Q

A battery with ξ=12.0 V\xi = 12.0 \textrm{ V} and internal resistance r=1.0  Ωr = 1.0 \; \Omega is connected to two 7.57.5-kΩ\textrm{k}\Omega resistors in series. An ammeter of internal resistance 0.50  Ω0.50 \; \Omega measures the current, and at the same time a voltmeter with internal resistance 15 kΩ15 \textrm{ k}\Omega measures the voltage across one of the 7.57.5-kΩ\textrm{k}\Omega resistors in the circuit. What do the ammeter and voltmeter read? What is the % “error” from the current and voltage without meters?

A
I=9.60×104 A, V1=4.8 VI = 9.60 \times 10^{-4} \textrm{ A, } V_1 = 4.8 \textrm{ V}
% errorI=2.0×101%,% errorV=2.0×101%\%\textrm{ error}_I = 2.0 \times 10^1 \%, \%\textrm{ error}_V = -2.0 \times 10^1 \%
