  1. Use the curve of Fig. 29–17 to estimate the stiffness constant kk for the H2\textrm{H}_2 molecule. (Recall that PE=12kx2PE = \dfrac{1}{2}kx^2.)
  2. (b) Then estimate the fundamental wavelength for vibrational transitions using the classical formula (Chapter 11), but use only 12\dfrac{1}{2} the mass of an H atom (because both H atoms move).
