  1. Apply reasoning similar to that in the text for the S = 0 and S = 1 states in the formation of the H2\textrm{H}_2 molecule to show why the molecule He2\textrm{He}_2 is not formed.
  2. Explain why the He2+\textrm{He}_2 ^+ molecular ion could form. (Experiment shows it has a binding energy of 3.1 eV at r0r_0 = 0.11 nm.)
