This is Giancoli Answers with Mr. Dychko. Electric field is the change in potential between two points divided by the distance between them. So we can multiply both sides by d to solve for the change in potential. So potential difference is electric field times the distance, which is 525 volts per meter, times 11 millimeters written as 11 times 10 to the minus 3 meters. And this gives 5.78 volts, of potential difference needed.
