I tried using this equation v2'=((2*m1/m1+m2)*v1), because the initial velocity of object 2 is zero and by all definitions it should've worked but I kept getting .47. My professor said that in special cases where the initial velocity of m2 is zero, this equation could be used. I don't understand why this equation didn't work. Is there any chance you might be able to explain it to me?
