This is Giancoli Answers with Mister Dychko. Efficiency is the work done by the engine divided by the amount of heat added to heat from the high temperature reservoir. That's 9200 joules of work done divided by 25 kilocalories of heat absorbed. We convert that into joules by multiplying by 4.186 times ten to the three joules per kilocalorie and we get 8.8 percent efficiency.
